BASF is planning to end compounding at its Leuna, Germany plant with closure by April 2022. Activities will be transferred to other compounding sites in Germany.

Domo Chemicals: Acquiring Solvay's Performance Polyamide Facilities  Link...

Solvay and BASF have reached an agreement with Domo Chemicals whereby Domo Chemicals will acquire Solvay's Performance Polyamide facilities needed to be divested to a third party in order to facilitate the divestment of Solvay's remaining polyamides business to BASF.

Domo will acquire facilities at Belle-Etoile and Valence, as well as a stake in a newly created joint venture between BASF and Domo in Chalampé (France). They also involve sites in Gorzow (Poland), Blanes (Spain) and commercial activities in Germany and Italy.

BASF will acquire all the activities that are not included in the remedy package and that are part of the original agreement between Solvay and BASF signed at the end of 2017.

The full transaction is expected to be completed by end of 2019.

BASF: Increasing capacity for butanediol at its Geismar site  Link...

BASF will increase its production capacities for the chemical intermediate 1,4-butanediol (BDO) by 10% at its site in Geismar/Louisiana as of 2016. The company will then have a global capacity of BDO of 670,000 metric tons per year. Additionally, BASF looks into further measures to strengthen and to expand its BDO value chain at the Geismar site. To increase the capacities of BDO according to the steadily growing customer demand, BASF continuously implements measures to boost efficiency and improve infrastructure at all its sites.

Rolle, Switzerland and Ludwigshafen, Germany, 17th November – Following clearance by the competition authorities, INEOS has successfully completed the purchase of BASF’s 50% share in Styrolution, a joint venture between the companies. The purchase price for the acquisition is €1.1 billion. Styrolution will continue to operate as a stand-alone Business within INEOS Industries Holdings Limited.
