Kolon Industries: Expands Tire Cord Fabric Plant in Vietnam Link...
Kolon Industries Inc. has expanded the capacity of its polyester tire cord fabric plant in Vietnam. The facility expansion boosted its production capacity in Vietnam by 14% to 19,200 tons of tire cord fabrics and the facitliy is now in full operation. Kolon is now able to produce 103,200 tons of tire cord fabric per year, or 15% of the global tire cord market by output. EVs are increasing the demand for tire cord due to the increased car weights, EV tires use between 10 and 20% more tire cord versus tires for combustion engine vehicles.

Chemical Segments: Sales revenue was 196 MMM KRWR declining 25% YOY and 2% QOQ with segment EBIT at 25 MMM KRW showing a 17% YOY decline and a 7% QOQ decline. The sales revenue decrease was due to a decline in by-product sales in the hydrocarbon resin segment due to a drop in naphtha price. Operating profit (EBIT) dropped due to increases in raw material prices for raw materials for phenolic and epoxy resins.
