Pirelli Tires: Announces JV to Establish Tire Manufacturing Facility in Saudi Arabia  Link...

Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Pirelli Tyre have announced the signing of a JV agreement to build a tire manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia. PIF will hold 75% with Pirelli holding 25% and acting as a strategic technology partner.

The plant is expected to start production in 2026 with a production capacity of 3.5 million tires pa. The JV will manufacture high-quality tires for passenger vehicles, under the Pirelli brand, and will also manufacture and market tires under a new local brand targeting the domestic and regional market. The total investment in the JV is around $550 million.

Pirelli Tires: Investing in Silao, Mexico Tire Plant  Link...

Pirelli is investing in production capacity at its Silao, Mexico plant with capacity increasing to 8.5 million units by 2025 compared to 7.2 million in 2022. The construction – planned for the two-year period 2022/2023 – is aimed at further increasing High Value production at the Mexican site, confirming its strategic importance.

In the last ten years, the Silao plant has grown at a remarkable speed, progressing from a capacity of around 1.5 million tires and a staff of 300 people at the end of 2012 to a capacity of 7.2 million tires at the end of 2022 and around 2,800 employees. Its production is focused on the High Value segment, producing High Performance and Ultra-High Performance tires for passenger cars, electric vehicles, SUVs and Light Trucks.

Pirelli has become the first company in the world to produce a range of FSC-certified (Forest Stewardship Council) tyres designed for the BMW X5 xDrive45e Plug-in-Hybrid. These tyres contain FSC-certified natural rubber and rayon for increased sustainable tyre production.

Pirelli's two phase plan looks to a return to pre-covid levels in 2022 with a target to be the leader in high value specalities with elevated cach generation by 2025. The focus on specialities includes tires with diameters > 19 inches and EVs. The plan has a strong focus on digital transformation leading to increased efficiences with increased production in countries with lower production costs.

Pirelli Tires: Supplying Intelligent Tyres As Standard for the First Time on the McLaren Artura  Link...

Pirelli now equips, as standard on the McLaren Artura, a tyre with sensors than can talk to a car. The Cyber Tyre system is made up of a sensor in each tire that gathers information for safe driving, linked to software integrated into the car's onboard computer.

The information including temperature and pressure is monitored in real time by sensors in direct contact with the tire. The data supplied from the sensors is processed by software created by Pirelli that is integrated into the car’s electronics. Some information can be seen on the dashboard and the central display; other information is used by the car’s electronics to calibrate the driver alert systems based on the exact characteristics of the tyres and their status.

Pirelli is proposing the closure of its MIRS production line at its Burton-on-Trent plant due to a reduction in demand for bespoke tires. The consultation process in underway.

Pirelli Tires: Launches New High Performance Bicycle Tires  Link...

Pirelli has launched its P ZERO™ Race TLR and P ZERO™ Race TLR SL, tubeless-ready road tyres representing the spearhead of its line of tyres dedicated to professional road racing and high-performance cycling. Three years of study and engineering and over two years of road tests led to the two new tubeless-ready P ZEROs.

Pirelli's new tubeless-ready tyres were made with SmartEVO, an innovative compound that’s an evolution of the original SmartNET. SmartEVO uses three different polymers, each of which provides specific performance, ensuring a perfect balance of opposite characteristics. The new ternary blend of latest generation polymers guarantees "intelligent" performance, resulting in better grip on dry and wet surfaces, very low rolling resistance and superior comfort.

Pirelli Tires: 2020-2022 Industrial Plan Vision 2025 Cost Competitiveness  Link...

Pirelli Tires is looking to make €510 million in efficiency improvements through product development, manufacturing, administration and organisational changes. For manufacturing, the plan is to have 18 plants in 2022 (82% in low cost countries) with the Bollate Plant in Italy converted to Premium Velo production. There will be 2 production hubs in low cost countries serving closer high value markets: LATAM for North America and Russia for Europe.

Pirelli Tires: Reorganisation of Production Structure in Brazil  Link...

Pirelli is reorganising its production structure in Brazil to accelerate focus on high value products. Plans include a 120 million euro investment over 2019-2021 to modernise the Campinas and Feira de Santana plants by converting to a high value product mix.
The plan focuses in particular on strengthening the factory in Campinas by transfering Moto tyre production from the current facility in Gravatai. This move is scheduled to be complete by mid 2021.

Pirelli returns to cycling and launches a new line of road racing bike tyres: PZero Velo. The range will be available in September this year and will be distributed in Europe, North America and Apac regions. The new tyres can also be ordered online via the ecommerce site specially developed by the company, which aims to offer consumers digital services and tailor-made products.

Pirelli Tires: Investing in Slatina, Romania Plant  Link...

Pirelli is set to invest some €200 million in its Slatina production site, Romania, through 2021. The investment will bring annual production capacity up to 15 million units, from the present 10 million. The expansion plan also involves the production area in Slatina dedicated to motorsport, which includes a F1 production unit. This will serve as back-up for the main Pirelli F1 plant in Turkey

Pirelli Tires: Planning Additional Plant in Mexico  Link...

Pirelli plans to invest 200 MM$ in a new factory in Mexico. This investment will begin in 2016 and is in addition to the 360 MM$ already invested and the 50 MM$ set aside for 2016/17. This will add another 2.5 MM units to raise production to 7.5 MM units by end of 2018.

Pirelli Tires: MOU for possible expansion of factory in Alexandria  Link...

Pirelli Tyre S.p.A and the Minister of Investment of the Arab Republic of Egypt today signed a Memorandum of Understanding the object of which is the evaluation of the possible expansion of the Alexandria Tire Co. (Atco), which is over 90% controlled by Pirelli and produces radial truck tyres in Alexandria, Egypt. On the basis of the MOU, it is foreseen that Atco would invest around $107 million (about 85 million euro) in the expansion and further technological upgrade of its factory. The investment is expected to take place over a 36 month period, when the conditions for the launch of the expansion activities have been met. When completed, this would result in up to 250 new direct jobs at Atco, as well as additional employment opportunities in related services, and an annual production increase of about 300,000 radial truck tyres.

An agreement has been signed transferring assest of two manufacturing locations for conversion to Pirelli standards in PC and light truck tire production. JV targetted at producing 11 MM tires by 2014.
